Grantec employs a wide variety of advanced analysis computer programs including ANSYS Multiphysics, ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Structural, ANSYS CFX (Computational Fluid Dynamics), SolidWorks Simulation, COSMOSM Advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA), COSMOSDesignStar, COSMOSWorks, DYNA3D, Algor, AFGROW and FLAGRO (fatigue and fracture mechanics).

The ANSYS Multiphysics code is a high-end state-of-the-art coupled physics tool combining structural, thermal, CFD, acoustic and electromagnetic simulation capabilities. Grantec's perpetual ANSYS license, includes:

bullet ANSYS Multiphysics
bullet ANSYS Mechanical
bullet ANSYS Structural
bullet ANSYS CFX (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
bullet ANSYS CFX Full Capability Advanced Solvers
bullet ANSYS WorkBench
bullet ANSYS DesignModeler
bullet ANSYS Geometry Interface for SolidWorks
bullet Parallel Computing options

Some of advanced capabilities of the ANSYS Multiphysics code include:

bullet fully coupled Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI), dynamic and transient
bullet fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
bullet multi-phase flow
bullet structural and mechanical analysis
bullet thermal analysis
bullet acoustics
bullet extensive element library including linear and non-linear elements
bullet dynamic analysis including non-linear with implicit solvers
bullet non-linear analysis including large strain
bullet fracture mechanics, including 3D and crack propagation
bullet fatigue
bullet wave mechanics including Linear, Stoke's and Dean's formulations
bullet immersed pipe and cable dynamics (including submerged systems such as moorings, towed bodies and marine risers)

The ANSYS Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) solution is considered to be the most advanced and flexible coupled structural-fluid physics tool currently available.

The Solidworks Simulation (formerly known as COSMOSWorks & COSMOSM ) FEA code is a mid-level FEA program and is comparable to ANSYS and NASTRAN, in speed and accuracy. Some of SolidWorks Simulation / COSMOSM’s features include:

bullet extensive element library including linear and non-linear elements
bullet dynamic analysis including non-linear with implicit and explicit solvers
bullet linear and non-linear heat transfer
bullet isotropic, orthotropic, anisotropic and composite (FRP) materials
bullet fatigue
bullet fracture mechanics formulations (linear and non-linear)
bullet wave mechanics
bullet cable dynamics (including submerged systems such as moorings, towed bodies and marine risers)
bullet ANSYS, NASTRAN, and PATRAN translators

With respect to analysis solution results,  published results for Solidworks Simulation ( COSMOSM ) are comparable to those of ANSYS, NASTRAN and ADINA.

Grantec utilizes full versions of the following COSMOSM modules:

bullet GEOSTAR Pre and post processor
bullet STAR Linear static, buckling, and frequency analysis
bullet ASTAR Advanced Dynamic Analysis
bullet HSTAR Steady state and transient heat transfer
bullet NSTAR Advanced non-linear, static and dynamic
bullet FSTAR Fatigue analysis

Grantec uses full versions of COSMOSDesignStar Advanced Professional and COSMOSWorks. We typically use SolidWorks to develop the 3D models required for finite elements analysis. We can accept a wide range of 3D model formats using the many translators available within COSMOSDesignStar.

Our analysis of the dynamic response of a offshore platform blast wall to a hydrocarbon explosion utilized many of the capabilities of COSMOSM including:

bullet parametric modeling
bullet non-linear material, large strain
bullet large deflection response
bullet explicit time step integration
